OK, you guys are right. The dynasty orphans are starting to get pretty-well picked over. Of the 79 orphans still left on the Orphan Marketplace, I count 25 that have a legitimate chance to win this year, with 54 “projects” that need a rebuild. It’s time for the next stage in the orphan process. Here’s what’s going down:
- ALL orphan prices have been discounted again.
- Our orphan package deal will continue to run until they’re all gone. You’ll find details on the Orphan Marketplace, but the idea is you can bundle several orphans of your choice and get a new single-year team for FREE.
- We’re ready to start taking offers! You’ll find the “Make An Offer” link in the far right column.
What if I buy an orphan and the league doesn’t fill?
Dude, you just struck gold!
We’ve never closed a league, so don’t get your hopes too high, but if you DID buy into a league and it failed to fill, here’s what would happen: 1) You’d get back what you paid for the team (including the entry fee), of course, and 2) You’d also get whatever deposit is on the team. By buying a team, you inherit the deposit, although you can’t get your hands on it until the league folds.
In most cases, that’s more than double your money back! On the Orphan Marketplace, pay attention to the column titled “Deposit Held”.

The Newbie Corner: Who Reads Rulebooks?
Not me! Cripes, am I really supposed to read the entire rulebook before playing in DataForce leagues? That’s like a 2-hour read!
Now, my lovely wife and business partner Leslie, she reads everything. If an instruction manual came with her new watch, she’s got it memorized. This world is full of all types, right?
I’m speaking to the first type, here. Lazy folks like me. You should have a basic understanding of how season-long fantasy football works before joining a league (see AboutDFF->WhatIsFantasyFootball) but surely you can wing it from there, looking up rules as you go. Here are some hints to finding rules quickly.
- A great place to start is to mouse over the green Rules button on the menu bar of the Administrative hub to see types of games, types of drafts, scoring rules, and more.
- At the top right of the rulebook, find the search bar. Use this to type in any term or phrase you want to find in the rules. It’ll open up only those sections in the rules that match your term.
- When you’re in the lobby looking for a league to buy into, check out the little yellow rulebook icons next to each of the filters. A quick click on this will describe what you’re filtering. For example, click the rulebook next to “Salary Cap” to learn what salary cap leagues are all about.
- For leagues that you’re in, you can at any time review all the rules specific to that league’s parameters. Head over to your My Teams page by clicking on TEAM MANAGER at the the top right of the page, and look for grey rulebook icons this time. There will be one for each league you’re in, and clicking that will open up all the relevant sections of the rulebook for that league.
- Keep an eye out! DataForce will soon be adding a search bar to the top of the website as well.
