Multiple Copper League Giveaways Ongoing

DataForce is expanding our social networking beyond Twitter/X, but we need your support to help get us off the ground!

We invite you to pick your favorite social media network and come follow us.

Here’s how it works: Follow us and repost ANY of our recent posts and you’ll automatically be entered into a drawing to win a free Copper league of your choice! We’ll do three drawings–one for each media source–to give away three league entries. Follow and repost on all three for three times the odds to win!

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61575724341268

Each of the three contests will close on May 22, eight days from now. Winners will be rewarded then.

The 2025 NFL Schedule Is Out

…And we’ve got the bye weeks loaded into the player table! Finally, you can plan ahead a little as you draft, making sure you’ve got all the weeks covered.

Here are the weeks that look worrisome:

Week 8: This one is the stuff of nightmares. Six NFL teams are on bye this week. I wouldn’t blame you if you plan to tank this week, and just load up on week 6 byes.

Weeks 9, 10, 12: Four teams are on bye each of these weeks, but for those of you who draft stacks, it’s week 10 that looks the scariest. Burrow-to-Chase, Mahomes-to-Kelce, Prescott-to-Lamb are all sitting this week out.

Week 14: Uh-oh. Panthers, Patriots, Giants, 49ers. Joining any Contender leagues this year? Remember, the contender playoffs are in full swing during week 14. Avoid these teams!

Live Drafts Begin In June

We’ve filled out the lobby with lots of new leagues, including a few live drafts! Four live drafts are scheduled in June, and we’ve put up a few high-dollar live drafts in August and September so you can plan ahead for the bigs. Think you got what it takes to compete with my boys below?

See DataForce’s league calendar, and look for the pink and red. Red means the league is full (probably a keeper league from last year) and pink means there’s still room for you to join!

Full Suite of Player Projections

All of our favorite stat projection sources are up and running! Here’s what you have to choose from directly on the DataForce Fantasy Football site:

  • 4for4.com (subscription required)
  • FantasyPros.com
  • FantasyNerds.com
  • DraftSharks.com
  • The Wonk Way (subscription required)

Each suite of projections is tailored specifically to DataForce’s scoring system. This time of year, the best way to tap into the power of projections is to enlist the help of The Wonk. That’s the cute little guy above.

The Wonk lets you select your preferred projection source and then shows you the best available player in your draft for each position, including an overall evaluation. Give it a try, unless you choose a premium projection source, The Wonk is free to consult!

The Newbie Corner: Injured Reserve

What’s the most common question we hear so far this year? It’s this: “Can Jonathan Brooks sit on my Injured Reserve while I’m drafting?”

Brooks is in the unique situation of already being placed on season-ending I/R. This is quite rare; more commonly, teams place players on Active/PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) until the season starts, when the team must decide whether to activate him or move him to Reserve/PUP. If they put him on I/R, he’ll have to miss at least the first four games of the season.

Your fantasy teams have an injured reserve, too. Four players can be on your I/R at any time (six, in a multi-year league), but they must all qualify by first being officially placed on their NFL team’s injured reserve.

Like the NFL, what this does is free up a roster spot on your bench that you can use for somebody else. When (if) the player comes off injured reserve this year, you have to pull him off your fantasy team’s I/R too, making room on your roster by dropping someone. You won’t be able to make any player moves, like setting lineups or placing waiver bids, until your roster is legal.

So, let’s think this through, and see what it means to you right now. It means that if you have a multi-year team from last year, like a dynasty team, and you have players still on I/R from last year’s injury, you can just leave them there until it’s close to draft time. Because until your draft begins, there’s really nothing forcing you to touch your team. Hence the following rule: I/R violations are not enforced in the off-season, but all players on your Injured Reserve will be moved to the regular roster, before your annual rookie/freeagent draft.

This move from I/R to your bench happens at the time keepers are selected. That’s three days before your draft begins. In other words, three days before the draft, all of your teams will be pared down to the legal roster size (22 players from a standard dynasty league, with different roster sizes for different rule variations).

Now we’re ready to answer the Jonathan Brooks question. What do you do with him while you’re drafting?

Answer: After keepers are selected and processed, you immediately move him back to your I/R and leave him there while you’re drafting! Yay, right?

No, don’t celebrate yet, because it depends on whether your league is hosted on the DataForce platform or the MyFantasyLeague platform.

On DataForce Fantasy Football: You’re in luck. You’ll draft until your bench is full, and end the draft with one extra player.

On MyFantasyLeague: Not so fast. You have to “use” a late-round pick to keep Brooks on your team, since keepers are slotted into draft spots at the end of the draft. So, while you can move Brooks to I/R, you can’t make use of that empty spot until the first waiver run, when you can bid to add another player to your roster. That’ll be the first Wednesday evening after the draft ends.

So, there you have it. Want to pick up a Jonathan Brooks-led dynasty team from a discouraged owner? Our annual orphan auction ends Saturday, May 17. If you search for Jonathan Brooks using “Find With”, you’ll see 19 orphan teams listed to choose from!
