DataForce has two diamond leagues left for this year in the lobby:
- DIAMOND 103 is our annual live draft. It’s booked at 12-of-12, but only 8 have paid, so you can still get in. This premier event will be drafting at 9pm Eastern Time on Sunday, August 31.
- DIAMOND 106 will be our last $3000 email draft this year. It will start drafting on Thursday the 21st. 9 have paid, so there’s room for 3 more in this one.

Shopping Cart Integration
We pulled the trigger yesterday and fully integrated our shopping cart. You don’t have to use it–you can continue clicking the PAY button each time you join a league–but we think it’s a pretty handy way to pay.
With this integration, as you click JOIN on a league in the lobby, the pop-up will give you the option to immediately click through to the shopping cart and make payment, calculated and applied automatically. You can continue to pay using the method you wish: credit card, e-check (ACH) or paper check.
Buy one league at a time, or join several leagues before paying by cart.

BIG Prize Boosting For Multi-Year Leagues
All email dynasty and legacy leagues have been prize-boosted to help them fill! All of them have been double-boosted ($48 in bonus money).
Here’s the deal: We know these leagues fill more slowly than redraft leagues, and time is running out to get them started drafting. If you’ve joined a dynasty or legacy league waiting for it to fill, we recommend you take a hard look at what other lineup formats you’re willing to join. If another acceptable league looks like it will fill first, put your money there. Or at least click the JOIN button on leagues that entice you as a sort of “vote.”
Very soon, we’ll be paring down the lobby, removing the dynasty/legacy leagues that we don’t think will fill this year.
New Jersey Increases Rates
New Jersey customers may have noticed and extra dollar or two in their entry fees of late. Sigh. Nothing is certain but death and taxes.
New Jersey becomes the highest regulatory cost in the nation with its recent increase from 10.5% to 19.75% taxation on fantasy sports. That translates only to one more dollar out of the pockets of New Jersey customers for low-level leagues (the tax is on gross profit, not the total entry fee), but still … frustrating, right? How on earth did our season-long hobby get roped in with Daily Fantasy Sports for this sort of regulatory robbery?
OK, it’s not all bad. State regulations do protect the hobby, and your prize money. Every customer benefits, even those in unregulated states, so everybody pays a little.
The Newbie Corner: Bad Beats
Last year, just for kicks, we started paying out a bad beat prize each week of the season. The idea is, if you submit a competitive lineup, and you lose your game, and your bench outscores your starters, you qualify for the bad beat contest that week. The worst bad beat each week wins $24 in bonus money.
Again, this is one prize for the very worst loss each week, not one prize per league! We only crown one customer a week as a winner! But it’s still fun to see what sort of lineup wins the who-can-predict-this-stuff prize each week!
Here are the qualifications for the bad beat:
- Your league resides on DataForce (not another hosting site like MyFantasyLeague).
- You played an opponent head-to-head and lost your game this week.
- You actively participated in managing your team this week. (The “last visit” column of your Standings page must change.)
- You started a competitive lineup (see rules for details).
- Your bench outperforms your starters. For example, if your starters scored 100 points, and you could have scored 105 points by using only players on your bench, you qualify with a “bad beat” score of 105 – 100 = 5.
- If DataForce estimates that you may have tried to lose your game, you are disqualified.
The bad beat prize won’t make you rich (don’t TRY to get beat badly, that will only disqualify you!), but it might help others commiserate with your misery, or at least alleviate a bit of the pain!
