Eight Takeaways From the Experts Draft

Lee Harmon, August 2, 2026

One week into the DataForce Fantasy Football Experts Charity Draft, and we’re seeing some interesting moves. Coming from a guy who sees tons of draft boards, here are eight takeaways from the Experts.

1

Brock Bowers gets selected ahead of Trey McBride–that’s standard operating procedure at this point–but in the first round? Bowers went at spot 1.11! I’ll be interested to see what Patrick Fitzmaurice (FantasyPros) says about this pick in his post-draft analysis!

2

Josh Allen–who stands head and shoulders and belly above all the other quarterbacks this year, lasted until the third round! Joe Dyken (Fantasy Nerds) snagged him at 3.5. Are we still following that stale advice about waiting to draft your quarterback? Even Allen??

3

Christian McCaffrey is still getting top billing! Yeah, he’s projected as a mid-first-round pick by most projection sites, but, have you no fear Sean Koerner (The Action Network)? At 1.6, an injury-prone old man becomes Koerner’s anchor.

4

The initial draft order has become stale. I see this over and over: Gibbs, Robinson, Chase, Nakua, Smith-Njigba. Ho-hum. Like, better not to get an early pick so you at least have a decision to make, right?

5

A.J. Brown seems to have been steadily rising on the ADP charts, and now he’s being taken at 2.1, the thirteenth overall pick, by Chad Parsons (UTHDynasty.com). Will Brown really thrive in New England, or is that wishful thinking?

6

The Houston Defense rocks. It’s now being selected in the 11th round, while the Rams lasted until round 14. This is a bold move by Joshua Larky. Joshua also drafted Brandon Aubrey, the first kicker, in the next round!

7

Mahomes-to-Kelce, once a premier stack, lasted to the 9th round, where they were snagged by Rob Waziac and Matthew Hill (DataForce Fantasy Football). Mahomes at 9.7 and Kelce at 9.8. How the great have fallen! But, hey, they’re still (mostly) upright, right?

8

The rookies aren’t getting any love. Jeremiah went at 3.9, after thirteen other running backs, and Jadarian Price lasted until 5.12. Carnell Tate hit the board in round five, but I dont’ see any other rookies before round seven.

We’ve completed 14 rounds to date. Ten more to go!

Ten Tips For Guillotine Leagues

August 22, 2025April 13, 2026

Guillotine leagues are the hot new rage in fantasy football. These are survival leagues, where the lowest-scoring team each week is eliminated, and all their players land on waivers for the wolves (remaining teams) to fight over. At DataForce, a guillotine league lasts all 17 weeks. In a typical 12-team…

Trading Players For Picks In Keeper Leagues

July 17, 2025April 13, 2026

In Keeper leagues, where you can only retain five players pre-draft, you often see a flurry of trading activity just prior to keeper selection. Every team wants to trade away the players they don’t intend to keep, hoping to get extra picks, either this year or next. How much should…

Right? Wrong? The Season That Was

March 18, 2025April 13, 2026

Before we start digging into what’s ahead for 2025, let’s look back at 2024 observations and thoughts. Where was I wrong? Where was I right? Jaguars RB Travis Etienne is a good place to start. His dismal season wrecked several of my teams. I happily drafted him in the second round everywhere…

Truly interesting stuff. It’s the time of year where folks best be grabbing all the information they can find. Separate the wheat from the chaff.
