Wide Receiver Rankings and Draft Strategy

Matthew Hill, August 11, 2026August 11, 2026

It’s here! The preseason is underway and with that, it is finally time for traditional redraft season.

To help you better prepare for your drafts, I will be breaking down how I will be approaching each position on draft day. This four-part series will feature redraft rankings, targets, fades, sleepers, and overall strategy for each of the positions (QB, RB, WR, TE).

The series began with quarterback, continued with running back and now turns to wide receiver. These rankings assume PPR scoring and DataForce’s Standard lineup, which starts three wide receivers plus a flex. Targets, fades, and sleepers are all based on how I see a player’s value in relation to their current ADP.

There are very few players that I am completely out on. There is almost always a point where a player would slide far enough in a draft where I would feel comfortable selecting him. However, based on ADP, there are several players at each position that I am not likely to roster in a single league; those players make up my “fade” list.

In the same way, my “targets” and “sleepers” are players I see as being undervalued, and as such, I am bound to be heavily invested in them this year, barring a significant change to their ADPs.

Don’t agree with some of the rankings or advice? Let us know your thoughts on our message board, found at the end of the article.

Targets

Emeka Egbuka

All signs point to a 2026 Emeka Egbuka breakout. Egbuka, the 19th overall selection in the 2025 Draft, looked like a superstar from the moment he stepped on an NFL field. Egbuka stepped into a starting receiver role with Chris Godwin not ready for the start of the season and was dominant. After five weeks, only Puka Nacua and Amon-Ra St. Brown had more wide receiver fantasy points. A hamstring injury did not keep him off the field, but it did affect his production, as managing his hamstring, along with the return of Chris Godwin, led to his finishing the season as the overall WR22. Now fully healthy, Egbuka should be heavily targeted with Mike Evans gone and Chris Godwin slowing down after having dealt with a number of injuries and heading into his age 30 season. Everything is set up for Egbuka to turn in a WR1 season, but he is not priced that way, either in DataForce ADP (WR15) or FantasyPros ECR (WR18).

Josh Downs

Like Emeka Egbuka, the conditions for a significant leap in production are in place for Josh Downs. Michael Pittman is gone, Alec Pierce, a popular breakout candidate earlier this offseason, is on the PUP list, putting the start to the season in jeopardy. Downs was targeted at a 24% clip last season when on the field. If he were to see a significant increase in snap share, he should have little trouble putting up career-high totals. I have Josh Downs as my WR36, six spots higher than his ECR of WR42.

Fades

Malik Nabers

Malik Nabers’ ADP steadily decreased after a May 14th report of a cleanup procedure on his knee. As we distance ourselves from that news and as reports have become more optimistic about his chances of being ready for Week 1, the decline has slowly turned into a slight ADP rise. I see this as a mistake. Even if he were to play Week 1, he will need time to work his way back to being the player he was pre-injury. His knee injury was complicated: it required both an ACL surgery and a lateral meniscus repair. Even for a world-class athlete like Nabers, a return to full strength will take time and he will not be a full year out from his initial surgery date of October 28th, 2025 until Week 8 of this season. If you can get him at a discount in dynasty, I would explore that, but for redraft, I am out on his current ADP.

Jameson Williams

It was a tale of two seasons for Jameson Williams in 2025. From Weeks 1-7, Williams averaged just over 8 PPR points per game as fantasy’s WR44. After the Lions Week 8 bye, he was dominant in the second half of the season, averaging 16.5 PPR points per game as the WR7. While few are expecting solid WR1 numbers over the course of the 2026 season, Williams is being drafted more in line with his second half surge than his first half inconsistencies. I have my doubts about him continuing his hot streak. The massive uptick in production can be attributed in large part to Sam LaPorta missing the final eight games with a back injury. Laporta is healthy, Detroit seems committed to featuring Jahmyr Gibbs, and Amon-Ra St. Brown remains the team’s go-to receiver. The targets simply will not be there for Williams to be able to turn in a high-end WR2 season and Williams is someone I am fading at his cost.

Sleepers

Tre Tucker

Tre Tucker finished as the WR37 in 2025, remains the WR1 receiver in the Raiders offense that features a quarterback upgrade, has the athleticism needed for massive spike weeks (4.40 40, 91st percentile) such as his 8/145/3 Week 3 outburst, and is just entering his prime in his age 25 season. His ECR of WR60 and late round ADP seems mispriced. He will be one of my most rostered receivers, especially in best ball.

Denzel Boston

KC Concepcion continues to be drafted, both in redraft and dynasty, as if he can be penciled in as the Cleveland Browns WR1, based on his first-round draft capital and uninspiring Browns depth chart. However, it is another rookie, Denzel Boston, that has been the talk of training camp. The 6’4, 212 receiver out of Washington has impressed with his route running and has earned first-team reps with his dependable hands. He has been compared with a young Mike Evans. While it is a dangerous game to compare a rookie with a perennial All-Pro, he does profile as a physically imposing WR1. If his practice performance translates to preseason games, look for Boston’s ADP to steadily climb.

2025 Pre-Free Agency Draft Targets

March 2, 2025April 13, 2026

It seems like every year fantasy gamers get collectively sharper. Articles, podcasts, the availability of data, and precise ADP’s has made it increasingly difficult for anyone to gain an advantage over any other fantasy gamer. One of the few edges that still exist are early drafts. Drafting prior to the…

More good stuff, as usual. Totally agree with you on Nabers and Jameson Williams. I’m just not sure what to make of what I hear about Nabers’ return to health. And Williams is just way too much boom or bust for my tastes.
