Who to Start/Sit in Your Fantasy Football League

This page is used to set your starting fantasy football lineup each week. Here are a few hints:

Fantasy Lineup Deadlines

You must set your lineups prior to the start of the NFL games. In fact, you must set them prior to the scheduled start! If a game is scheduled to start at 1pm, then whether or not it starts on time, the players in that game will lock in place at exactly 1pm.

Other players whose games have not yet begun will not yet be locked. You can move them in and out of your lineup as you wish. Just make sure they're in the right place before their game starts.

Viewing Player News & Statistics

There are two ways to view news and statistics from third-party providers:

  1. Click the player picture to open that player's page in a new tab. By default this is Fantasy Sharks; you can choose a different site on your Owner → Setup page.
  2. Click the player card next to the name to view the FantasyPros synopsis in a pop-up window.

Note also the projected points in [brackets]. These projections (full-season before the NFL season starts, weekly once games begin) come from your chosen third-party site. By default, that site is Fantasy Sharks. To choose another, subscribe to a stats source through The Wonk, DataForce's integrated player analysis tool.

Moving Players In and Out of Your Lineup

You can drag a player from your bench to a spot in your lineup or to Injured Reserve, replacing the player there and sending him to the bench, and you can drag a player from your starting lineup to the bench.

Or just tap or click any player and choose where you want him to go, including directly to another eligible starting spot (for example, from flex to running back). This is the easiest method on a phone or tablet.

Setting Advance Lineups

You can set lineups in advance for future weeks. Set the lineup the way you want it, choose a week under "Preserve this lineup for week," and click SAVE. On Tuesday night of that week, the computer swaps your saved lineup in. Any saved player no longer on your roster is skipped, and you can still change your lineup after the swap. You'll get an email of the changes when the swap happens.

To discard an advance lineup, click DELETE by that week. To view it, click RESTORE, which loads it over your current lineup.

How Fantasy Football Injured Reserve Works

DataForce leagues have injured reserve slots, so that if a player goes down long-term you can set him aside without losing a roster spot. Multi-year leagues (Keeper, Dynasty, Contract, Salary Cap and Legacy) have six I.R. slots, so you don't lose an injured player for future years; other leagues have four.

If, and only if, a real-life NFL player is placed on injured reserve by his team, you may move him to I.R. in your fantasy league. When this becomes possible you will see a red (IR) next to his name. Please don't ask us to designate a player as I.R.-eligible; we update our database multiple times per day, so if he's on I.R. in the NFL, he'll shortly be available to move to I.R. in your fantasy league.

When the NFL activates a player from injured reserve, he must also come off I.R. in your fantasy league. How this is enforced depends on your league:

  • Weekly lineup leagues: until you move him off I.R., you won't be able to make roster moves, pick up free agents or place waiver bids (on MyFantasyLeague, you won't be able to change your lineup).
  • Bestball leagues: you must move him off I.R. and make your roster legal by 11am Central on Sunday of each game week. You'll get a warning email Saturday evening, but if the problem isn't fixed by Sunday's deadline, the commissioner will activate the player and drop enough players to make your roster legal.

You don't need to do anything with I.R. in the off-season. All players on I.R. are moved to your regular roster automatically just before your annual draft. See the Injured Reserve rules for details.

Players on I.R. do count at half-salary against your $200 cap in Salary Cap leagues. In Contract leagues, players on I.R. do not count against your $240 salary cap.
