Specialty Fantasy Leagues

Lee Harmon, June 13, 2026June 30, 2026

We run three unique annual events at DataForce, and the time is nearing, so let’s turn our attention that direction for today’s newsletter.

Our Annual Spotlight Leagues at DataForce

If you haven’t yet played in the SBFFC, it really is time you gave Brian Harwood’s league a try. Here’s what he has to say about this year’s event, and be aware that you can play from anywhere, Brian also hosts an online draft or two.

“The live draft event will take place starting at 12:30 p.m. central time on Saturday, August 22 in Bowling Green, KY just north of Nashville.

“This is the 17th season of the Southern Bluegrass Fantasy Football Championship, The tournament will be a single-entry tournament with a $250 buy-in. 23 divisions of 12 teams, making a 276 team tournament!

“$10,000 grand prize winner plus regular season and divisional prizes!

“The good folks at Dataforceff.com will provide the stats, live scoring and leaderboard.  Dataforceff.com is powerful enough to support this powerful tournament.

“Check out SBFFC.com for more details!

“If you would like to join, email me at [email protected] today!”

DataForce is proud to host these leagues, but is not otherwise involved.

Every year, DataForce invites a panel of industry experts to participate in a draft for charity. Each chooses their favorite charity, and then tweets about their draft strategy and picks as the draft goes on.

We haven’t yet nailed down our cast for this year, but you can see who participated in last year’s Expert’s Charity League to see how amazingly strong the field is! Most, if not all, will be returning this year.

Pick the contestants that you want to follow on social media and make it more fun for these guys by participating in their online conversations!

DataForce hosts an annual tournament and it’s FREE to enter for our nation’s active duty, reservist, and veteran military, as well as current and retired first responders.

The Tournament of Warriors is a single season redraft style fantasy football tournament that follows the ruleset for standard-lineup Draftmaster leagues. It has no entry fee and was developed for the sole purpose of saying thank you to those who defend our freedoms, rights, and maintain our health and safety.

All prizes are donated by DataForce Fantasy Football in recognition of the incredible sacrifices you have made and continue to make every day for our country.

Brendan Sorsby

Let’s talk about Brendan Sorsby … again. They guy has been a pain in the butt for every Dynasty league fantasy football provider everywhere.

For those of you who have been living under a rock the last few weeks, he’s the highly-touted college quarterback who was expected to earn around $5 million playing at Texas Tech. He faced a potential lifetime ban from NCAA sports for betting on his own team (the Hoosiers, at the time).

So, Sorsby made it known that he might file for the NFL draft. That filing deadline (June 22) is fast approaching. Meanwhile, Sorsby remains in a legal battle. A Texas judge granted Sorsby a preliminary injunction preventing the NCAA from punishing him, ruling that he would suffer “probable, imminent and irreparable injury” if unable to play. The NCAA, of course, is appealing that ruling.

That leaves Sorsby in a hell of a mess. What should he do? Take a chance that he’ll be able to play college ball, or pack his bags for the NFL? He’s gotta decide pretty soon! The story is still unfolding.

Fantasy providers are also thrown into confusion. A month or so ago, DataForce published on this blog that we would let people draft Sorsby, and if he happened to stay in college this year, you could hold on to him on your roster until next year. As each day passes, it looks more and more likely that Sorsby’s future this year is with Texas Tech. But we’re not changing our ruling.

You can draft Brendan Sorsby in your dynasty league and hold him if he’s worth a roster spot to you. Sort of like a one-man Devy league. But here’s the catch: We have not yet made a ruling on whether he can stay on I/R all year–like holdouts–but the likely answer is “NO!” Draft at your own risk.

Desperate Orphans!

There a team in league NO HUDDLE that’s drafting on Tuesday, and it still has no place to call home. It’s time to make keeper selections now. Another in league JUMP BALL begins drafting Wednesday.

Hint: If you want to make an offer that works, locate a team that’s running out of time, and offer at least half the entry fee. Here at DataForce, we’re pretty stingy with the deposit money used to reduce team prices, because we want our leagues to last forever. We’ve never had to close a league, and part of the reason is that rather than going too low on the price, we’re willing to give that last spot to a shill if need be. I think we used shills for five leagues last year.

If you feel so inclined, visit the Orphan Marketplace and take a heavily-discounted chance on one of these guys! Its fun to bring the unwanted back to life!

The Newbie Corner

Two short topics to discuss today for our newer customers, or for anyone who doesn’t think they know everything yet about DataForce.

TOOL NUMBER 1:

First, did you know you could order the teams on your My Teams page any way you like? Click on the up/down arrows to move each one up and down the list.

Initially, teams will appear in the order you bought them. Most current teams on the top of the list.

After you order your teams, remember that new teams you buy will still land at the top of the list! You may be re-ordering often if you do it by hand like this!

One great new tool is the RESET button at the top right of the team list. This orders everything alphabetically, while sorting the “hidden” teams to the bottom.

A “hidden” team is one you choose not to display during live stats or in your drop-downs. See your Owner->Setup page to mark any of “hide” any of your teams … often used by customers to hide their draftmaster leagues.

Maybe the most useful way to use this tool is to RESET your teams often, and don’t order them by hand until you’re done drafting. Then put them in the order you want, with maybe the most important teams at the top.

TOOL NUMBER 2:

Do you play a lot on MyFantasyLeague? If you do, you know that not all DataForce functionality is available on the MFL site. If you want to, let’s say, request a trade review of a trade you think is suspect, then you have to jump sites and move over to DataForce to request the review. You’ll find this option at Trades->RequestMFLreview.

Another important feature that exists only on DataForce, not on MyFantasyLeague, is the potential points calculation. This can be found on the Standings page at DataForce.

My suggestion? Always use DataForce as your hub, even if all your teams are hosted at MFL. You can easily stay logged in at DataForce, bookmark the My Teams page, and click the MFL link anytime you want to manage one of your teams over there.
