COVID-19 Rules

These rules were put in play during the 2020 season to accomodate additional COVID-19 restrictions and holdouts, and will be carried forward into the 2021 season.

General Concepts

  1. Season hold-outs should be a small enough number to be manageable, so we have chosen to record these holdouts as Injured Reserve (I/R) eligible. Multi-year leagues may preserve their holdout players until next year by placing them on the general I.R. Note that in Salary Cap leagues, these reserve players count 1/2 against your salary cap, just as the general I.R. does.

  2. Normally, there are no roster moves allowed in Draftmaster leagues. Because of COVID, DataForce is allowing a one-time update to your team, letting you swap out any players you drafted in these leagues (both regular and Tin Baby draftmasters), who later opted out of the season. You will need to contact us at [email protected] to make these one-time Draftmaster player moves. The deadline to request your moves is Friday, August 14.

All requests will be processed on a first-come-first-served basis.

  3. The NFL has designated a special COVID-19 I.R. for this year. Likewise, all fantasy leagues other than Draftmaster leagues will allow up to four simultaneous players placed on COVID reserve, if so designated by the NFL. This includes both multi-year and single-year leagues. Once a player returns to active play in the NFL, he must be removed from your fantasy team's COVID reserve.

DataForce Software Additions

  1. The best place to see the status of every player is the Player News page. A player who is holding out will say Holdout as the "injury type", and players eligible for COVID-IR will say COVID-19.

  2. We have added four COVID I.R. positions to your leagues. Players eligible for COVID reserve will be designated by the letters (CV) on various pages. Holdouts will have the normal (IR) designation.

  3. COVID I.R. moves, like general I.R. moves, can be made from your Set Lineup page. This is where you will activate and deactivate players. Note that these moves are legal for bestball leagues as well, including applicable Tin Babies. Only Draftmaster leagues are excluded.

MyFantasyLeague Software Additions

MyFantasyLeague rules will be identical to DataForce rules, using the following workaround: We have added a 4-player taxi squad to all leagues except Draftmasters. This taxi squad operates similar to the injured reserve. The difference is, just like DataForce's COVID-IR, only players on the NFL's COVID reserve may be placed on your taxi squad.

Cancellation or Suspension of Season

DataForce's Terms and Conditions reads as follows for potential season suspensions:

Should the NFL season be suspended or delayed, all contests will pause and resume when the NFL season resumes. Should the NFL season be discontinued without planned resumption, with insufficient games played, DataForce fantasy football contests will likewise be declared canceled.

A "cancelled" season is one in which fewer than four (4) regular season games are played by the National Football League. These four games need not be played in consecutive weeks. Should the NFL season be cancelled (with fewer than four games played) for any reason, DataForce will refund all entry fees for single-year leagues, with the entry fees going back into customer accounts in the amount paid (cash and bonus money both). Customers may then submit a withdrawal request as desired. NFL playoff contests will likewise be cancelled and refunded if any NFL playoff game is not completed.

Entry fees for multi-year leagues are applied in full to the following year, including league deposits and regulatory fees such that the following year's contest is paid for in its entirely, whether those leagues are new start-up leagues or rolled over from a prior year. Draft positions in the following year will be determined randomly, rather than by contest results and/or potential points.

"Entry Fee" for refunding single-year leagues and playoff leagues is defined as the contest fee, and includes the annual cost plus any hosting fee, live draft fee and/or commissioner fee.

Prize Payouts for Shortened Seasons

DataForce's Terms and Conditions reads as follows for potential shortened seasons:

All Contest lengths are official according to the length of the NFL regular season (excluding week 18, during which no fantasy games are played). If for any reason the NFL does not complete all games required for the fantasy playoff season (weeks 15-17 for most contests), the determination of winners in leagues with fantasy playoffs will be based on the season record of each team, if no fantasy playoff weeks have been played. If the fantasy playoffs have not yet begun in a Contender league, then prizes will be paid to individual contender leagues based upon standings, similar to regular leagues.

If one or more fantasy playoff games have been played before the NFL season is canceled, then all unplayed games will be considered a tie, with the remaining prize money shared between contestants still in contention.

The prize fund in Guillotine leagues will be shared evenly between all surviving teams.

Playoff Leagues

DataForce's playoff contests, which run during the NFL playoffs, will be considered canceled and entry fees returned as described above should the NFL not complete its playoff brackets and determine a Superbowl winner.

Should the NFL playoffs be delayed, each playoff contest will extend until either: (1) The season is canceled, or (2) the Superbowl is finally played.
